This water boarding thing has me really upset. Just today I found out
that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was water boarded 183 times in March 2003.
Here we are, trying to make sure that this guy is prosecuted in a timely
and constitutional manner, and I find out that let him go surfing 183
times? I really must talk to the Army Guy about this...

Water boarding is not a near-drowning technique. The subject is never in danger of drowning. And water boarding is not torture... no physical harm to the subject.

Kahlid Sheikh Mohammed is a bad guy, and US interrigators obtained valuable info from him using this technique- who cares how many times it took? It was up to him how long before he decided to cooperate, didn't have to be this way necessarily- apparently he clung stubbornly to a bad decision, sounds like something he'd do.

The CIA uses waterboarding to test agent trainee's resolve. They waterboard their trainees to see how long it will take to make them give up classified information. According to reports, no CIA trainee has never gone past two minutes. Never. Even hardened, seasoned agents have never lasted two minutes while being waterboarded.
If some procedure will make experienced, battle tested, veteran CIA agents crack in less than two minutes, it is definitely torture.
That being said, I have no qualms whatsoever about waterboarding terrorists who possess information that would help us know when another terrorist attacks is coming. I say whatever it takes to protect Americans. Burning bamboo under the fingernails? Yep. Inserting a glass rod up their penis and breaking it? Yep. I don't give a rat's ass about how the terrorists feel.
They are our enemies.
If they don't give the info up, anyway? OK. Kill 'em all and let God sort them out.
